The Mobile Bay National Estuary Program is one of the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s 28 National Estuary Programs dedicated to protecting and restoring the water quality and ecological integrity of estuaries of national significance.
Since its inception in 1995, the MBNEP has demonstrated an impressive ability to secure and leverage funds, protect and restore coastal habitats, and broaden public understanding of the estuaries of Coastal Alabama.
To achieve these goals, the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program involves community members and other key partners to develop and implement a long-term plan, the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP), a scientific blueprint prescribing specific actions to address water quality and living resource challenges according to the priorities of Coastal Alabamians.
