Brian Agnew fell in love with the forestry business when he was still a young boy. I remember watching TV and a commercial for Weyerhaeuser came on, showing a forester planting trees, he said. I loved backpacking and hiking in the woods and knew then that forestry was something I wanted to do. I imagined living in a cabin in the woods.

Agnew achieved that goal. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in forest management in 1978. While in college, he spent three summers in Montana, including one working with the U.S. Forest Service. In 1981, he became a Registered Forester. Currently, he is a self-employed forest consultant and has owned Southern Land Management, LLC, since 1998. He is also a licensed real-estate agent with Speaks Land Company.

Before owning his own company, Agnew worked for Union Camp (1978-1984), W. J. Sorrell Lumber and Pulpwood Co., Inc. (1985-1995) and Natural Resource Consulting (1995-1998).
