Growing up in east central Alabama, Carl Wiggins always loved the outdoors. While hed spend as much free time as possible out hunting or fishing, it was actually a random encounter with some foresters one day that sealed his decision on becoming a forester. I was so intrigued by them, he said. Seeing them out with planting crews, doing a burn, or marking timber really interested me.
Wiggins pursued that plan, attending Auburn University to earn a degree in forest management. After spending eight years in the U.S. Army, he then joined the ranks in the industry, originally working with consultants on a contract basis. After a few years, he developed his own client base and started Seven Oaks Forestry in 1995. When not enjoying the outdoors with his familyspending time together doing things like long distance hiking and white water kayakinghe helps clients all around Selma and beyond with any forestry needs, from timber appraisals and sales to management plans, prescribed burning, and reforestation. Its rewarding to help landowners realize their goals and objectives, Wiggins said. Forestry is a line of work that suits my passions.
