Alligator Creek Nature Trail Updated:07/2023

Alligator Creek Nature Trail, in 27-acre Alligator Creek Park, traverses a large forested area of mixed hardwood and pine with substantial understory. The trail, 1 mile in length, offers a boardwalk that hovers over swampy, grassy and bog-like areas, giving access to superb birding habitat. The well-maintained trail offers access to the mixed forest. There are several small clearings found approximately 1/2 mile.

A second trail, '-mile Beaver Creek Interpretive Trail, is also worth exploring. Both trails encompass a broad array of habitats, from marshland to mixed-age woodlands. Common Yellowthroats and Swamp Sparrows, Pileated Woodpeckers and Great Horned Owls can be found along the trails. The site is located on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lands. There are no amenities other than the trail and gravel parking lot at this location, but you are just a few minutes away from the more populated West Point Dam locations, complete with boat launches, restrooms and a multitude of picnic tables.
